Hospital Billing:  The daily room charge includes nursing care, dietary services, housekeeping and other support services.  Additional charges are made for services ordered by your doctor, such as x-rays, laboratory tests, medical supplies, pharmacy, oxygen and other special diagnostic services. 

If any questions arise regarding your hospital bill, please call the Business Office at 843-537-1637, extension 3204.  Have your patient number and date of your visit available.  A business office staff member will be available to assist you from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Physician Billing:  Your bill from Chesterfield General hospital may not include the fees of all physicians who were part of your care.  You may receive a separate bill from physicians who saw you during your stay.  You may also receive a bill from a doctor who did not personally see you, but who interpreted x-rays, stress tests, laboratory tests, etc.  Questions regarding payment of these bills should go directly to the doctors or their billing services.

Original X-rays are the property of the hospital but may be checked out to staff doctors with a 24-hour notice.  Please call 843-537-1637, extension 3246.

Medical Record Information:

If you require a copy of your medical records, please call 843-537-1637, extension 3246.  By obtaining the answers to a few questions in advance, our Medical Records department will be able to have your records ready for you when you come to the hospital to pick them up.  You will need to complete an Authorization for Release of Medical Records.  This consent form must be signed and dated by the patient or legal representative.  You will be charged $.65 per page and a $15 retrieval fee if records are needed for personal, insurance or attorney use.
