Admissions/Registration: The Admissions/Registration Office is conveniently located on the South side of the hospital, near the Emergency room entrance. Admission hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. During your registration for medical services, information and authorization will be needed for your medical record and for financial arrangements. All information will be handled confidentially. Please bring any insurance materials including your insurance and/or Medicare/Medicaid cards. At registration you will be asked to pay any co-pays or deductibles if owed. Other helpful information to bring with you includes a medical history (previous surgeries or medical conditions, allergies, etc.), a list of medications you take, and your Advance Directives/Healthcare Power of Attorney if you have one.
Outpatient Testing: If your doctor ordered some type of radiology or laboratory testing and told you to come to Chesterfield General to have it performed, you will need to come to the Admissions/Registration office. Bring your insurance information and the doctor’s orders to be registered for testing. If you have any questions about our registration process you can call 843-537-1637, extension 3234 or 3217 for information.
Outpatient Surgery: If your surgeon is sending you to Chesterfield General because you have outpatient surgery scheduled, you need to first be pre-registered by the Registration office. This will ensure that your medical records are ready for your arrival and that all required testing is completed prior to surgery. Your physician/surgeon will arrange your appointment with the pre-admissions nurse. The pre-admissions nurse will meet with you to go over preparations for your procedure, what-to-expect, and any concerns that you may have. For more information on pre-admissions procedures, call 843-537-1637, extension 3197.
Inpatient Admissions: You become an “inpatient” if your physician feels that your surgery, medical treatment or care requires that you stay in the hospital for 24 hours or more. If you are staying overnight, your room assignment will be determined by the kind of medical care you are to receive and room availability. As your condition improves, you may be transferred to another unit in the hospital.
All patients are admitted to Chesterfield General Hospital without regard to race, creed, color, sex, religion, ancestry, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, economic status, educational background, or the source of payment for care.
