Chesterfield General Hospital’s Imaging Services Department celebrates National Radiologic Technology Week® to honor the hard work and accomplishments of its radiologic technologists.
The first NRTW was celebrated during the week of July 22-29, 1979. The celebration was then moved to November to recognize the date Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the x-ray, Nov. 8, 1895. The annual celebration promotes the important role medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals play in providing quality patient care and a safe health care environment. NRTW is about medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals. This year’s them for the national celebration is “The Guiding Vision in Medicine.”
The staff will celebrate the week with a breakfast on Friday. The Imaging Services department provides the following services to patients in our community, mammography, ultrasound, computerized tomography (CT) using a 16 slice scanner, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear medicine(NM) using a Phillips dual head nuclear medicine camera. This department is lead by Director Sharon Kimrey who has over 30 years of experience and an in house physician, Dr. Steven Glassman, board certified in diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine.
