Cardiac RehabilitationVideo: Cardiac Rehabilitation
Physical activity is healthy for your heart—even after you've had a heart attack or bypass surgery. It's important to start out slowly, under the supervision of cardiac rehab specialists. In this video, you'll learn what's involved in cardiac rehab and how it can benefit your health in the long term.
Our cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program is a South Carolina state certified multi-intervention program that offers education, exercise, and support to patients with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Restrictive Lung Disease.

Patients are admitted to the program after being referred by a physician and having their medical records reviewed. Patients with the following conditions may be good candidates for the program.

  • Stable Angina
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery
  • Heart Attack
  • Heart Valve Replacement
  • Angioplasty with stent placement
  • Heart Lung Transplant
  • COPD-Chronic Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis, Emphysema
  • Restrictive Lung Disease

This program consists of 12-week exercise regimen closely managed by a board certified RN. Also, a nutrition evaluation will be performed by the hospital nutritionist. Education is offered on disease process, nutrition, medications, lifestyle changes, stress management, smoking cessation and healthy lifestyle changes.

After the 12-week program is completed, CGH offers a health maintenance exercise program that will allow participants to continue with their newly acquired healthy lifestyle.
